Pixel Art: Social Game Items

layout

This was a really great project. Working on in-game items for the website gosupermodel.com was quite challenging technically but also very rewarding. It's a social site that is hugely popular with teenage girls in Scandinavia and is making inroads into the rest of Europe. The job was to create items that users could buy and add to their personal 'rooms'. This type of persistent world monetisation is at the heart of many social games and it was a real privilege to work with the great folks at Watagame to bring this experience to their users.

Lots of Different Styles

There were furniture items to be made in a variety of different styles. This required a very strong understanding of form, line and material. Also note that the game had very strict conditions for the angles to be used. All art had to conform to an artificial perspective system.

Technically Challenging Items

Some of the items were quite mundane: rugs, simple tables and chairs etc. However others were a real challenge. It was great fun solving these design and drafting problems.

Lots of Fun

And some things were just too cool for words. I think these lamps are my favourites out of all the items. I'd love to have these in an architecturally designed minimalist loft space.
